Data science for housing meet up

Save the date.

I remember way way back at the first RE BarCamp in 2008 that Rob Hahn suggested we do a BarCamp event for the real super geeks of real estate. It was a great idea, but I was really in no position to pull it off at the time.

The event will take place at the convention center on Thursday, November 12th from 2:30 to 5:00.

REALTORS® are welcome to attend, but this is really geared toward coders, data scientists, business analysts, and maybe even a few economists who work in the housing industry. Heck, I hope 90% of the discussion is completely over my head.

More details to follow. RSVP now to save yourself a spot as attendance is limited to 150 people. Furthermore, please pass this on to those super geeks on your team. This is a great opportunity for them to network with their colleagues.

Real Estate and the Internet of Things

RM_CVR_2015_mar_aprI did a presentation last year at The REALTORS® Conference and Expo on the Internet of Things. It was really great for three reasons:

  1. Chad Curry  (Managing Director at CRT) had already amassed the bulk of the info I presented, so it was really easy to put together.
  2. Meg White, (Managing Editor at REALTOR® Magazine) attended the session and decided to write an article on the topic.
  3. They made it the cover story for the March/April issue!

It was really fun to contribute to this.

Big Data, Analytics & Real Estate

bigdatafeatureimageI co-wrote a new white paper for the Center for REALTOR® Technology. It’s a brief overview of what makes big data big, and cover’s big data’s impact on the real estate industry.

This is part one of two. The second installment will cover how NAR is using data analytics to better serve it’s members. A.k.a., my day job.

You can download part one here.

The Intelligent Internet Lead

intelligentleadimageI’ve been pretty focused on my new role at NAR for the last six months, but finally made some time to write again. This white paper is a side project I did for the Center for REALTOR® Technology. The Intelligent Internet Lead explores some of the cool stuff happening behind the scenes when it comes to converting Internet leads into client relationships. Here’s the blog post I wrote about it, while the full report can be downloaded here.
